ENERGY STAR®, a U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and U.S. Department of Energy voluntary program providing straight-forward, credible information that consumers and businesses rely on to make well-informed decisions, has announced completion of a new certification program for interior and exterior storm windows. According to the EPA, labeling storm windows as ENERGY STAR-certified will help consumers identify more energy-efficient storm window products, reduce home energy costs and will help raise awareness and adoption of this efficient product category. EPA led a collaborative effort to develop the storm windows specification, supported by feedback from a multitude of stakeholders, including AERC. The ENERGY STAR storm windows certification will be a valuable complement to AERC’s recently launched rating and certification program for window attachments.
