Test labs can participate in the AERC Certification Program in two ways – either through testing material properties or by testing performance properties of window attachments. In order to test and submit thermal and optical properties for the CGDB Material Properties Library, test labs must participate in the most recent inter-laboratory comparison (ILC) managed by LBNL. Test laboratories can also participate in the AERC rating and certification program, by physically testing the performance properties of window attachments. Test labs must submit documentation supporting their ISO 17025 accreditation to conduct this testing.

Test Lab Accreditation for Materials

  1. Participate in the latest Inter-laboratory Comparison. Reach out to Jacob Jonsson ([email protected]) at LBNL to indicate interest in ILC process. Jacob will provide detailed instructions, but the general process is as follows:
    1. Additional ILC information is available at https://windows.lbl.gov/2017-aerc-ilc
  2. Complete registration form. Upon acceptance through the ILC, AERC staff will provide a Test Lab Registration Form to complete and submit to [email protected].  Once you submit a completed form, AERC will post your contact information on the AERC website for manufacturers to reference.

Test Lab Accreditation for Attachments

Submit your accreditation documentation. Contact the AERC Program Administrator and provide evidence of your ISO 17025 accreditation as an independent, third-party laboratory. Once you submit satisfactory documentation, AERC will post your contact information on the AERC website for manufacturers to reference.

Test Lab Submission to the CGDB Library

An approved test lab must conduct measurements for submission to the CGDB Materials Library. The material manufacturer determines who will submit data to AERC for listing in the Materials Library. In some cases, test labs may be responsible for submitting materials for listing. Instructions for submitting materials for listing in the Materials Library of the CGDB are provided on the Complex Glazing Database page.
